The idea for VITAR was born in 2023, when our founder Patrick had a key experience during a visit to his grandmother. His grandma was now spending a lot of time at home and traveling far was no longer possible. During this visit, Patrick brought VR goggles with him to enable his grandma to take a virtual trip. His excitement about this showed him the great potential of this technology to improve the quality of life of senior citizens.
Coming from a background in tourism, we decided to take our expertise and passion for travel in a new direction. In July 2024, we founded VITAR with the aim of making virtual reality accessible to older people, bringing not only variety and entertainment but also mental stimulation to their often monotonous everyday lives.
Our approach is not only technological, but also personal: we offer individual content provided by the families of senior citizens. This means that users can not only look forward to exciting virtual experiences, but also to personal and emotional content from their loved ones.
After initial successful test runs in care facilities and a lively exchange with experts from the care sector, we were able to develop a user-friendly VR concept that is suitable for senior citizens. Our vision is clear: we want VITAR to find its way into care facilities and retirement homes, but also into home care, thus enriching the lives of many older people.
