FAQ about VR & VITAR

The most frequently asked questions

Virtual reality (VR) is a computer-generated simulation that allows users to immerse themselves in an artificial, three-dimensional world using special devices such as VR glasses. For older people, VR offers the opportunity to experience less physically accessible places, which can help increase mental wellbeing and reduce feelings of isolation. It also enables the performance of safe, adapted physical activity and cognitive exercises that can improve mobility and memory performance. In addition, VR can be used in elderly care as a tool for pain management and relaxation by creating calming environments and scenarios. Overall, VR opens up new ways for older people to maintain mental and physical health and helps to improve their quality of life.

Motion sickness is a common challenge when using virtual reality (VR), especially for older people whose sense of balance can be more easily disturbed. Most of our customers enjoy the VITAR excursions without any undesirable side effects. However, there are a few people who do not like VR glasses and feel uncomfortable in this new environment. It is known that VR goggles can cause motion sickness - a feeling of dizziness similar to motion sickness when reading in a car - in some users, including younger people. We have developed experiences that are specifically tailored to the needs of our sensitive target group of senior citizens. Thanks to targeted measures during filming and in post-production, complaints only occur in rare exceptional cases.

When using VR goggles in the care sector, strict hygiene is essential to avoid cross-contamination. VR goggles should be thoroughly cleaned after each use by wiping with disinfectant wipes specifically designed for electronic devices. It is important that the wipes wet the surfaces sufficiently to ensure effective disinfection without damaging the electronics.

Many of our customers are initially amazed at how easy it is to use VITAR! We are aware that new technologies can often be perceived as overwhelming. That's why we have developed user-friendly software that is so simple that even our 95-year-old grandma can go on virtual VITAR excursions without any problems. It is operated using just one button: the power button on the glasses. You then select the desired destination in the menu by looking at the destination and the journey begins immediately. As you can see, it is surprisingly simple and specially tailored to the needs of senior citizens!

For the exact warranty conditions, it is best to visit the official website of the VR glasses brand or check the documentation supplied with the product, as the warranty conditions may change and may vary from region to region.

The combination of virtual reality (VR) and essential oils is often recommended to create deeper relaxation and an enhanced wellness experience. This multi-sensory stimulation engages both visual and auditory senses as well as olfactory senses, deepening the immersion in relaxation and enhancing the therapeutic effect. Essential oils such as lavender and chamomile complement the VR experience with their stress-reducing and calming properties. In therapeutic settings, this combination can help support treatments for anxiety, depression or PTSD by creating a calming atmosphere. In addition, the pleasant nature of this combination can increase willingness to participate and compliance with treatments.

We use lightweight VR goggles that fit perfectly on the head and can be individually adjusted to any head shape. In addition, the battery has been removed from the VR headset and moved to the back of the head - so we offer even more comfort through a balanced weight distribution than conventional devices.

Naturally! Our VITAR glasses are designed to be worn comfortably over existing visual aids so that users do not have to remove their glasses. Only myopia or varifocal glasses are required to use VITAR; reading glasses do not need to be worn. Many people with visual impairments tell us that they experience clearer vision during VITAR excursions than in everyday life. Especially users with macular degeneration benefit from the improved contrasts and vivid colors of our film productions, which literally bring color back into their lives!

Of course! We have received some of the most touching feedback from people who are otherwise confined to their bed. However, the prerequisite is that these people can sit up enough to look straight ahead. Otherwise, when lying down, they would mainly see the sky or the ceiling. It should be noted that bedridden people cannot experience the full 360° view, but even restricted viewing angles and the close-up image are enough to give them the feeling that they are right back where the action is!

Falls should always be avoided. However, sunlight in particular is the biggest enemy of VR glasses. Therefore, keep your VR glasses away from places where they could be exposed to the sun to prevent damage to the lenses and display.

  • Do not store the glasses in places where they may be exposed to sunlight. The lenses in your headset can be permanently damaged by direct sunlight in less than a minute. This also applies indoors.
  • Do not use your VR glasses outdoors.
  • If you need to transport your VR glasses, use a bag or the original VITAR packaging to protect them from direct sunlight.
